Day 5/6- Great Falls, MT

Hey bloggers,

I was able to talk to Joe twice yesterday, in his little breaks from paddling.

He made a huge push, past his original destination of Ulm ending up 15 miles or so outside of Great Falls.

The weather was against him, with snow intermittent during the day, but he was able to push past it.

When I talked with him, he was exhausted from the long hours he put in, but excited about today in Great Falls and hopefully the weather getting better.

Apparently his camping situation was not in the best of locale though; Joe spent the night camped in a future subdivision of Great Falls, MT.

I just got off the phone with him today and he is being portaged by Norm in Great Falls. A photographer from Helena got word of Joe’s travels and drove up to meet the two, so there was a little paddling photo shoot. When I get the photos, I’ll be sure to post them on the blog. He is pretty psyched right now, having a rest day of sorts with his only paddling for the day being the approach into Great Falls. In town, they've made stops at Applebee’s and the grocery store to get some more supplies, hopefully not cheesy cornbread. Tonight he is going to camp at the put-in site, so he’ll be ready to rock on the river again tomorrow. I will be talking with him later tonight, so I’ll be able to update on his goal for the next day.
Paddle on,
Jared
